bull's eye roses | "poppies" for sale | mother's day oddment gifting
april 2018
dearies,
i am an unabashed collector of home decor magazines. specifically those that feature "flea-market style", "vintage style", "cottage design" or "boho style," to name just a few. despite the clutter, i would never part with this treasure trove of inspiration, as i never know what may catch my eye at some later date. for example, i have noticed that many of the homeowners featured in these journals subscribe to the "if you love it, you'll find a home for it" philosophy. when they discover new treasures, whether in the antique mall, at a fair or even by the side of the road, they purchase it knowing that, eventually, they will find the perfect spot for the precious item, somewhere within their home. i find this philosophy especially appealing when it comes to expanding our english cottage-themed garden.
a recent acquisition in this vein is a beautiful "bull's eye" rose bush. this large shrub beauty will boast ivory colored flowers with a gorgeous cranberry burst in the center, as its name suggests! i have been smitten by their unique appearance and color combination (which change subtly as the roses bloom and age). also, the intensity of the colors is actually determined by the particular climate in which it's planted. as mentioned, this is a bush-style plant and can grow 4' to 6' high and 3' to 4' wide! so i am presently ruminating on where best to plant so as to provide it with ample sunlight, while also providing the necessary space for it to grow and show off in the garden. by golly, i will figure it out!
speaking of showy flowers, i have decided to list for sale the gorgeous poppy print super mash-up dress i made last spring. "poppies" features a glorious poppy red print for the body of the dress, with striking geranium red florentine and spring green dotty prints that complement and contrast. the light and dark green patterned jacquard ribbon at the neck and lining the inside of the zipper is especially fetching, too! i invite you to forward and share this newsletter and the news that my "poppies" super mash-up frock is on the market, looking for its new forever home.
"poppies" will pair beautifully with black leggings and tights in winter as it will with bare legs and sandals in spring and summer. also, it's guaranteed to elicit smiles and compliments from everyone who sees you in it - what a great way to welcome the seasons!
mother's day is just around the corner and i have a delightful selection of oddments that would be just the ticket to show mom how much you adore her.
from spectacle satchels, a-door-nments, "this and that" note cards to vintage button earrings and brooches, you're certain to find the perfect way to say "i love you!" (and with complimentary shipping in the u.s.a., as well!)
until my next missive...
xoxo
