valentine's ♥ boho bobbies ♥ sweet potato curry stew!

i hope you have a lovely valentine's day today. for the dearie family, we're starting the day with cinnamon rolls and then having heart-shaped hamburgers for dinner. the dearie daughters can't wait, and truthfully, neither can i nor mr. dearie!

oh, i've also added another oddment creation which utilize luxurious pieces of japanese faux suede that used to belong to my gran. i've dubbed these new sustainable fashion hair accessories "boho bobbies" and they incorporate bits and pieces of my leftover fabrics from my dress collections and more:

as you will find with most of my laid-back luxe dresses, pants and oddments, "boho bobbies" were designed for versatility. each hair decoration slides onto a handsome, secure-hold wavy bobby pin so you can display it on the left or right side in your hair, or for the sets, display both on the left or right or one on each side. secure clip wavy hair bobby pins are available in either blonde or brunette coloring and you can choose your preference during checkout. of course, all my oddments are delicately scented of peonies and all darling dearie items always include gorgeous signature presentation wrap plus complimentary delivery within the united states.

a new instagram follower of mine (that i followed back!), @jilcarrara, posted the most delicious stew recipe that i had to share with you: sweet potato & chickpea curry!

it can be made ahead of time and frozen for a future meal, or you can make it the day or night before you want to enjoy it. mr. dearie was only lucky enough to get a bowl of it because i literally devoured the rest! it is really that delicious and oh-so-simple to make. bonus, you'll make your house smell wonderful and it's also a vegan recipe, if you're interested in that sort of thing. ms. cararra has other delicious recipes available on her blog including a granola i'm going to have to try next. you may click on the image above to connect directly to her website.

below is my version of her delicious stew pictured above:

sweet potato & chickpea curry stew

2 medium size sweet potatoes, peeled & cut into cubes
1 can (15.5 oz) chickpeas, drained & rinsed
1/2 onion, chopped or diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
3-inch of fresh ginger root, peeled & minced
1 can (13.5 oz) coconut milk
1 can (14.5 oz) chopped tomatoes
4 tsp. curry powder
2 tsp. ground cumin
2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. olive oil

cilantro & plain yogurt or sour cream to garnish & serve with

saute onion in olive oil for about 3 minutes. add garlic and ginger root, stir for 2 minutes more. add curry powder, ground cumin and salt, mixing well. let saute for a couple minutes more and remove from heat.

in a larger pot, combine chopped tomatoes & coconut milk over medium heat. add onion/garlic/ginger root/spice mixture and chopped sweet potato. cook over medium-to-medium high heat, stirring occasionally, for about 15 minutes or until sweet potato can be easily pierced with a fork. add chickpeas and heat another 10-15 minutes. serve with cilantro & plain yogurt or sour cream.

*you can also add the chickpeas and sweet potatoes at the same time and simmer or slow-cook at a lower temperature for a longer period of time until the sweet potatoes are fork tender.

dearies, you'll have to let me know if you try it and what you think of this recipe! it's definitely going into regular rotation in the dearie house.

until my next missive-

xoxo
