spring recap & summer plans!
april 2023
dearies,
a tremendous welcome to all my new subscribers! i'm so happy to have you join the growing darling dearie family. as my long-time subscribers can attest, i only send out email updates about every couple of months, and you won't find me spamming your inbox with a constant, obnoxious barrage of correspondence.
and i never sell or give away your contact information.
ever.
saturday, march 18th was the fountain hills day celebration hosted by the local chamber of commerce. mr. dearie and i headed out after our morning coffee and got my pink tent set up and stocked. before the 10 am start, i slipped into my fountain hills tourist skirt and donned a folk art necklace made many moons ago. through out the event, both skirt and necklace were popular attractions. if you asked me which one was more popular i'd be hard pressed to say, but the message was clear: i should make similar necklaces to sell on my website and for fall 2023 pop up shop events.
during the event i had a contest giveaway for my "brimful of poppies" sun hat and the following day i was pleased to announce the winner: diane matthew!
congratulations! i hope you will send me a snap of you in your new hat for my dearies page!
now that we are headed towards summer, and in-person markets don't resume until fall, i am busying myself with several creative projects for our home, for friends birthdays, and for darling dearie. oh, and i might get to take a quick visit to see family up in portland, too!
several of my creative projects came about through conversations with you beneath my pink tent last month. one project i'm exploring is designing a hat for someone who has had difficulty finding hats that fit her comfortably. another is creating an infinity scarf for petite individuals with shorter necks. i've got lots of ideas and am looking forward to seeing where they all lead!
as a market/fair vendor you never know what is in store when you're setting up for the day. i know from frank conversations and commiseration with vendors at other events i've attended (as a visitor), we all share the same struggles: the wind is our nemesis, we pack too much to display and hopefully sell at the event, we never know what an event will hold between the weather report and expected attendance.
when i show at an event, i always go in expecting to sell nothing, and if i do, it never fails to be a thrill! other fair vendors have shared the exact same sentiments with me. so a huge thank you, you know who you are, who have purchased from my pop up shop either at the flea markets or during fountain hills day and, most of all, to my repeat customers. thank you for your continued support!
before i forget, not only do i continue to offer complimentary shipping within the u.s.a. for purchases from my website, i am also offering complimentary courier delivery within fountain hills and select surrounding communities. please visit this page for all the nitty-gritty on that. and of course, you or your gift recipient will receive the same beautiful signature package presentation no matter the delivery option you select.
finally, mother's day is around the corner! there is much to peruse within my online boutique to find the perfect gift to show mom, or the mother-figure in your life, just how much she means to you.
until my next missive...
xo,
darling
