fall weather is in full effect in the pnw and it's the perfect time for hearty soup! i just tried a new indian spiced carrot soup recipe that was terribly easy and quite delicious. the recipe comes from a place dear to my heart, a retreat and conference center, still owned and operated by the church i attended growing up. i spent many teenage summers at menucha, and my favorite view in the whole entire world, to this day, is from the pool looking east into the columbia gorge.

in my opinion, seeing the vista house at crown point makes this particular view extra special. many an early summer morning and late summer night, were spent from this viewpoint, and the lights that came on at dusk and off at dawn, around the perimeter of vista house, only added to the magic in my world.
