this mid-century ranch in central tempe, arizona boasted five bedrooms and a desirable split floor plan.
however, the galley-style kitchen in the center of the the home was a dark red color. the client was reticent to repaint. it was gently explained that red walls are an instantly polarizing design element.
did they want to effectively reduce the number of prospective home buyers, even in a sellers market?
challenges: dark blood-red kitchen paint, heavy custom draperies, excess furniture and personal belongings
the seller agreed to have the kitchen repainted in a neutral color and enthused afterwards how the kitchen and house truly benefited from this improvement.
heavy draperies were swapped out for shorter ones in white cotton linen.
additionally, the sellers excess furniture and decor was removed except the bare minimum for staging purposes.
